where’s “inverse seanuary” when i need it?

with today being my legit seventeenth with the atomic fam i’m jonesing for one of my terms to really come to volition…

…but alas, i doubt it ever will.

first, a couple of explanations – i typically talk about starting with atomic on july 31st, 2009, which was a friday. that was my official start date, in the sense that i was allegedly starting that day. but as he still does seventeen years later, sometimes justin gonna justin; so i got outta the shower as i was getting ready to see my phone blinking, i had a message, and justin had pushed me off a day to saturday, august 1st, since he wasn’t gonna be in the shop friday after all and wanted to be there on my first day.

so technically today is my real seventeenth anniversary. and at one point, many years ago, i did the math and realized i worked, on average, one extra month a year for free. when i was questioned on this statement, i pointed out it was easy math – my salary was based on a forty hour week, but i typically worked closer to forty-five hours a week. with fifty two weeks a year, five hours times fifty two would be over an extra two hundred hours per year; and with a “full month” consisting of four forty hour weeks, or one hundred and sixty hours, i technically was doing an extra month, per year, of work, for free.

and if i’m working an extra imaginary month, it’s getting named after me, hence “seanuary”.

now, the inverse of working an extra month a year without getting paid would be getting paid for a month but not having to work – and that, i feel, is what i desperately need. it would give my body time to rest and heal, but would also give me time to get some shit done around the house, like finally organizing the studio, tackling the tower or crap in the office, and maybe even getting all the rides road worthy.

now if i could only get someone to bank roll this plan…
