one eyed betty

well, the first step to getting betty right again is done…

…the destroyed head light, with all it’s jagged lil’ edges, is now in the trunk.

why’d i save the destroyed piece?

because when i was looking at the part (that was never purchased as there’s other stuff that had to take precedence) i noticed there were some that were cheaper but missing some of the electronic stuff that bolts into the back. as mine was hit from the front, and all the electric stuff is (allegedly) sealed pretty well (that six point buck at seventy miles an hour might have changed that) i decided to save the fixture for now until i get a replacement to see if i can get a cheaper part if i reuse and recycle.

the next step was to replace the missing blacked out bumper reflector, but i can’t find the fucking things. i bought em – and had two envelopes on my desk at one point, one with a pair for m…

and one with a pair for betty, but hers has now come up missing. i’ve checked her trunk (where i put parts for her and m, actually) but nothing. didn’t find it in her cab OR on my desk either. and i until i find it, i can’t replace it, and i see zero point in putting her wheel back on until i can replace said reflector and put the wheel well liner back in, because now that the busted light is out the piece that bent behind it when it got pushed in can be bent back and the liner can finally sit right and not rub the tire.

it’s all a domino game, ya see.

so let’s see if i can find it between now and wednesday, as i’m off all day with zero plans, so it’s time to get grey back on the road and get betty back on the ground. quite the lofty goals for a day after a route, but i’m a lofty guy…
