in ten days sting gets his wish…again

(not so) little known bit of 80’s musical triva…

the “i want my mtv” line at the beginning of dire strait’s money for nothing was sung by sting.

of course back then we all wanted it, because it still focused on the “M” – as in music. it played videos. it played concerts. it did NOT play shows about pregnant teenagers or orange douche bags. but it lost it’s way. they started mtv2, but it quickly fell into the same trap.

now they’re trying to go back to their roots.

in ten days vh1 classic, one of the reasons i got cable back when because it actually played videos and music programming, is becoming MTV classic.

here’s to hoping they don’t fuck this up…
