windows x can eat my ass (part ii)

so, we’re making progress and i feel i’m at a crossroads…

…thanks to harold (of astrowhore “look kids, it’s harold!” fame) bringing a windows 7 pro disc up we got the computer up and limping…at least enough for me to fill a 32gb jump drive with all the raw files and downloads. it didn’t completely heal, which i think was in part because he brought a 32 bit disc and mine was on 64 (how was he to know?).

all seems to be functioning but start-up takes a bit longer, and there were two larger issues:

1. it’s not seeing the wireless card, ethernet port, or bluetooth (so i can’t connect to the internet at all – it should be noted i have two laptops, one of which lives in my office to the point of it constantly being on the docking station frying the battery, which is what i’m on now).

2. it killed my virus scan, but i got that up and running out of my downloads whilst i was backing all that shit up.

so now i’m not sure if i wanna go through the pain and suffering of nuking the operating system and rebuilding from the ground up or just trying to find the drivers and shit to get the internet back running and calling it good…

…i’m leaning towards the latter.

in all honesty, i’m leaning towards replacing this bitch by the end of the year, so it might not be worth it to nuke it and start over from ground zero (which is, ironically, the name of the notebook).

i’ll keep this bit going in case anybody else it having the issue. on the upside, the windows ten download isn’t forcing itself on me any more, but if it does i might just let the bitch run…i’ll be backing this shit up on the reg going forward!
