i love how things come full circle on the interwebs…
…every now and again people in my world (work, friends of friends, whatever) discover that i have a website where i make my own unique and even occasionally humorous observations. that’s when they start sending me shit. recently they sent me a thing about a pole dancing class at a church, which they thought i’d have fun with due to a conversation we’d had earlier that evening over drinks at my usual trudy’s bar perch. all the email had was the link and the line “how can stripping and church go hand in hand? – thought you’d have fun with this [link]…”
but i had to burst their bubble; my response –
two things in response to your mailing – first off, churches and strip clubs have a lot in common. they both serve food and booze (see “communion sunday”), they both are poorly lit with even poorer quality music, they both are filled with white men in bad suits who act one way within their four walls and completely different outside of said walls, and they both principally exist to get money out of your pocket in the name of a happy ending that we’ve all heard about thousands of times but never actually see nor do we run into anybody who’s ever experienced it personally to concretely verify it actually exists…and secondly, i’ve already done a bit on this a few months ago…yours in christ, sean
whether you see this as sacrilege or not, you gotta admit i’m pretty spot on here…
