(almost) missed it by that much

well, that was a close one…

…but “crisis” averted.

i did something i’ve always wanted to do and designed a shirt for another tattoo shop. i’ve done stickers for others, and honestly i might have this design made into a sticker just because. but i had wanted to do this design for them for a while, i fucked around with it a time or two (never getting close to what i wanted), and finally having been tattooed there back in june i got all the inspiration i needed to get it done.

they’d had a samhain one done, and a black flag one done, so i kept their theme and made…

but there was a mistake you don’t see on this one that was brought about because of an even bigger fuck up i’d made. the original design had “southside” as two words, but in the title of the shop it’s not (although according to spellcheck it should be) and so in merging it i tweaked the spacing and that’s when i could see that the last layer i’d done (the longhorn on the cap) was actually sticking out OVER the lettering in “SOUTH”! with it spaced it was barely visible…

but it was there. when the spacing was corrected, it was BLATANTLY there. i had never noticed it, and neither had they (and i’d unabashedly shoved this in the face of most of their staff) but now it’s all better, just in time for me to send the files over so they can get ’em made. couldn’t have caught it any later and had it corrected, and while i pointed out to nik that once it’s made into a screen for a shirt it probably wouldn’t show either way, it woulda when i made my vanity stickers and it woulda driven me batshit, so i’m glad all is set to go now (and if there’s any other mistakes i’ve missed since june hopefully i continue to miss ’em!)

post post bit – i noticed, after i did this bit, that there was still a weird white mark at the bottom of the scroll (no doubt leftover background from the image that i “sampled”), and that was corrected before the final version was sent over to the shop)
