lookie what i got

all this talk about what i did to celebrate my fifty-fifth has lacked one crucial bit of info…

…what i actually fucking got!

first, a bit from the good folks at google:

the con safos tattoo

Symbol of Respect: In the tattoo world, a C/S mark signifies that the wearer has deep ties, loyalty, and respect for the Chicano community and the culture.

The Unwritten Rules of the Tattoo

It’s a Gift, Not a Purchase: Traditionally, you do not simply walk into a shop and ask a random artist for a Con Safos tattoo.

Earned Representation: It is usually gifted by a trusted artist or mentor who respects your authenticity and sees you for who you are.

The Custom Design: Because it is deeply personal, it is often hand-drawn or uniquely designed for the recipient rather than pulled from a standard flash sheet.

so, with that, i got this:

and getting from the first artist to ever tattoo me (and later offer to do this on me, albeit twenty plus years ago) coupled with our graffiti tattoo history (and some other things), made it all the cooler. that bright blue tagging will be the only color ink ever on my left leg.
