missed opportunity, part 956

these tattoo supply routes take a good bit out of me…

…to where typically, when i’m done, i’m fucking DONE.

no double backs. no extra shit. hell, i sometimes don’t even have the gas in the tank (mentally) to deal with a grocery store run at the end. if my car could drive itself, i’d just collapse in the seat and wake up in the driveway.

my least favorite part of the whole experience is the drive to take the van back, which is stored in lakeway, texas – the only part of the austin metroplex to not allow tattoo licenses. it’s out of the way from everywhere else i have to go, and the only way to get there is RM620, which gets all kinds of back-ups a lot of the time. and parts of it you wouldn’t wanna double back on due to blind hills and curves and shit. it was during such a stretch i saw an electronic billboard one time, and never since. i didn’t catch the explanation for the headline, just the header itself…

“THEY TOOK YOUR SPOUSE? SELL YOUR HOUSE!”

i only saw it once, but can still remember the “what daphuk?!?” feeling when i did.

so, my mental interpretation, due to the state of our country today, was that this was targeted at immigrants that maybe one got taken and the spouse was left free due to being a citizen or maybe just being lucky enough not to get pinched by the current bullshit? but given the fact this was out between the dam and hudson’s bend, in a pricey area, with little to no immigrant population living there (save for live-in nannies and staff, who wouldn’t own their places of residence) i’m not sure about that.

when i google the phrase it just hits a bunch of regulations for unloading property associated with divorce, but if that was the case who would “they” be, that took your spouse?

so, i guess i’m left to wonder – i haven’t seen the billboard in the weeks since, and i didn’t get a pic as i was driving the van at the time. anyone else seen anything similar?
