when i was in fourth grade my town square started to whither and die…

…prior to that it had TWO banks, (first lockhart national and lockhart state bank) a true value hardware, a jc penny’s, three big clothing stores (glosserman’s, gellman’s, and rosenwasser’s) a bill’s dollar store, a women’s store, an appliance store, a few law offices and title companies, a woman’s store (kaigler’s – still there), a barber shop, and a donut shop.

than i hit fourth grade and EVERY aforementioned retail outlet died…why? because we got a store that, thirty years later, inspired a music video:
