so, a week ago today was the republican primary here in texas…
…as this is being written at (checks watch) 8:29am on the day the primary occurred, i have no idea who won yet.
but i know i didn’t kick in, although i originally was gonna.
i’ve voted in nine elections in my lifetime, with four votes going to the republican side, and five to the democratic side, although three of those five have an asterisk as i wasn’t so much voting for the democratic candidate as i was voting AGAINST the MAGAt.
(as he clearly loves his name so much he has to slap it on everything i’m celebrating our (unfortunately) shared birthday month by not putting on here at all)
but we’re seeing a wonderful trend on the right as of this writing – senators who had ticked the MAGAt off and so he through his support, verbally and financially, behind the other guy, and so far they’ve been winning. while that looks like a MAGAt win, it’s a delayed one, as now there’s a pissed off republican senator who knows he’s not getting re-elected come november…but that’s still five months away. five congressional voting months away, with a guy (or gal) who has an “(R)” by there name but now has a pretty big axe to grind against the MAGAt and his agenda…
…and there in lies the conundrum.
i was gonna vote for coryn to stick it to MAGAt since he wasn’t supporting him – but if he wins, does he still have that axe to grind where he votes like a rational human being? or would that placate him enough to fall back into line? if you ever come at nikki you’re on my shit list for live, but MAGAt went at cruz’s wife pretty hard on the debate stage, and he’s back to having his tongue so far up his ass he taste if the mcmuffin was burnt this morning. who’s to say coryn wouldn’t follow suit and reach for a knee pillow as well?
plus, to be honest, coryn is the stronger candidate and has the whole incumbent thing going, and i want talirco to win in november. i think he has a good chance against either, but way more so against paxton, so there’s that angle as well.
given the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” scenario, i just decided to abstain. plus, i have errands to run on the way to work, anyway…
