when i was a kid i REALLY wanted a toy general lee…
…and while i eventually owned several, that original disappointment, in the toy aisle of bill’s dollar store (which used to be on the south east corner of the square where the distinctively new “old looking building” is), still haunts me, even though the consolation was the bandit’s trans am, arguably the cooler of the two in the first place (and unarguably the one with the decal job that’s aged better politically speaking).
i’ve always liked cars from movies and tv, and while some were true custom masterpieces…
(both by custom car wizard george barris)
some stayed relatively true to form, with just some light alterations…
and this was a pretty cool, oft forgotten one, from a cinematic classic of my high school years…
but this scene…
did not need to be recreated in TOY FORM…
so while i have a few toy cars in my adult pile of crap, this pile of crap will never be added to my pile of crap…what were they thinking?
