three times a weekend

so, the guy that got me started doing this site (kramer) has long labeled it as “cheaper than therapy”…

…and this is one of the few times it’s almost needed.

(I) – i’m having car issues all the way around. mr. grey’s window regulator has died, but i thought it was just the motor, and in the course of trying the motor replacement on it the door panel took some permanent damage, making a hour long $25 repair become a several hours long $300 repair. then there’s black betty, my daily driver, which passed grey in mileage recently. last night i went to grab her when i dropped off the work van and she had a low tire. this morning she was completely flat. a run to a tire spot found it’s coming from where she had the wheel repaired a few times. they no longer make my rims (which are only five years old?!?) so if it’s not fixable i’m just really fucked. it lost very little air on the way in, but by the time i was off it was completely flat and raining. i drove the half mile from where i drop the van to a convenience store so i could take refuge from the rain under their gas pump awning and just visibly there was no denying i had just drove on a flat tire. i tried fix-a-flat and rolling a couple miles on it to circulate but it still wouldn’t take air. hopefully it’s fixable. i’m now on my spare so at least she’s drivable but she ain’t pretty. and the tire light is basically on for good. i’ll take the wheel to my guy tomorrow and hopefully all can be resolved for a couple hundred bucks, which SHOULD be going to my anniversary in a couple weeks. and don’t get me started on quinn’s (nik’s x1) oil leak…

(II) – as i was just getting in the car all rain-soaked and sweaty and gross as fuck to drive home i got a call from a friend that another friend had passed, hinting it was self-inflicted during the course of the conversation. as i type this i’ve given you all the details i know except the names (which i’m withholding for privacy reasons) and i’m dying to know what’s going on (horrible pun not withstanding) but i’m having to just sit and wait and see what info floats my way over the next couple of days.

(III) – i always talk about this site being around for twenty-plus years but i never noticed that it’s name change, from astorwhore.org to daphuk.com was ten years ago this year. as in the year that’s now practically over. who knew?
