ritual de la habitual

i learned an important lesson this holiday season…

…take away the rituals, take away the feeling.

no bullshit.

this year, because of pandemic bullshit, or just 2020 being 2020 we didn’t decorate. at all. never even took the tubs down. we skipped my families traditional lasagna meal and went with the prime rib we normally do on new year’s eve…

…and then on new year’s eve we just did pizza hut.

but between the change in decor and the lack of family i normally see during the holiday (and the lack of a xmas bonus, but i’m told that’s supposed to change) it just really feels like the holidays never even really happened now that we’re on the other side of them.

anybody else experience this?
