i’m not gonna say i’m surprised…
…and i’m not gonna say i’m happy.
but i kinda knew we’d end up with presidend obama, and in a way i see it as a blessing ’cause i figured the only thing that would really stop that juggernaut of a campaign was good ol’ fashioned closet racism.
you know that that is, right?
ask any american if they’re racist, and unless joking or blatant about it most will say, “no”. but let a group of thugged-out looking guys of the non-caucasian persuasion walk by and a woman will hold her purse a bit closer, and people will double check to make sure the car’s locked. hell, even the girl i was dating until recently moved where she moved to get away from “brown people”…and she’s hispanic!
but to elect a black man president, even if he’s not of the pure bred variety, says a lot about this country, and that i see as a positive.
also, while i don’t equate the man to a savior in any way, shape, or form, i’ve never really hassled religous types even though i don’t personally believe because i see some good in the inspiration that most draw from their faith even if i don’t see much good in the faith itself. a muse by any other name can still inspire great deeds, and having this man run got more people than ever to exercise their civic duty and vote than anybody else in recorded history. that can’t be seen as a bad thing, regardless of who they voted for.
i’ll do more on this next week, but now i gotta get the camaro in for a new catalytic converter. before i go, though, i have a brief statement to our new president elect…
dude, job well done. you and i both know half the shit you said you’d do you actually can’t because the office isn’t that powerful, but job well done none the less. that being said, charisma can only take you so far, so don’t fuck this up!
