nothing gives the finger to the man that controls the pump quite like this…

for all curious, it’s a ford f650 front welded to an excursion back on 50″ tires with dual 50 gallon fuel tanks. it’s more than eight feet tall and over twenty-five feet long. it runs off a caterpillar diesel engine and when the article i wrote was published (5/5/2008) he said it took $400 to fill the tanks but as it was diesel it got good mileage (having to only fill up twice between michigan and california, for example). of course, i’m writing this bit (to ruin some of the magic here) on may 24th, and am about to go fill up with regular unleaded at $3.76 a gallon (where it was $3.63 a gallon just last saturday when i did this – which was up to $3.93 when i checked this on 7/5/08, but back down to $3.79 a gallon the weekend before you read it. now this is for the low grade gas, not the diesel, so he’s probaly still around the five buck a gallon range.) so i can only imagine what that $400 tank runs now. either way, way to stick it to the man!
