twelve hours of labor and a few hundred dollars later and the BMW is back on the road!
i’d love to toast my mechanical skills as the reason he’s rolling again, but honestly i think they’re just that fucking well built after all. i’m honestly not that mechanically gifted. i’d chalk it up to 60% german engineering, 30% luck, and 10% me…
…and that still might be kinda generous.
it took seven hours on saturday (this wasn’t straight labor, you understand – part of the time was spent running around or waiting on somebody to run me around as going to autozone and carrying back, say, seven quarts of oil on a bicycle a couple miles would kind of suck) and a few hours on monday but he ran into austin yesterday with minimal incident (slightly rough idle if the a/c is running and a bit of hesitation off the line) but compared to what i thought i’d be having to do today (talk to somebody about buying him for scrap) i honestly couldn’t be much happier!
stopped mid-way through this bit and all fluids and fluid levels look good – guess we’re ready for run in to austin number two. back from the watery grave – don’t call it a come back!
now to get back to life as normal where the word “hydro” means something a shit-load more pleasant!
