the blame game

“lead by example, because you’re gonna, whether you want to or not…”

that was the advice i gave to a guy when he was granted a “shop manager” position in our company, which i put in quotes because it was basically a pupped position for his mental health that came with neither actual authority nor a pay raise. but it meant he was (somewhat) looked up to and, sure as you’re born, people followed his example (i.e. ducking out of shifts early, getting high at work, etc). i recently made the same statement about someone else at a shop due to folks asking me why the staff acted a certain way, so brought back up my point.

“monkey see, monkey do”, as my mom used to say.

i bring this up because, to a degree, it described the maga movement. a misogynistic, unapologetically egotistical megalomaniac who, in his eyes, never makes mistakes or does anything wrong, and none of what APPEARS to be such is his fault because the world is now, somehow, out to keep the white man down.

and that last part is really what’s dangerous.

because now every loser motherfucker who “fails to launch” or just can’t get with adulting now has an excuse – it’s not HIS or HER fault they live in mom’s trailer in their forties and don’t work. it’s the SYSTEM that’s broken, not giving it up to the white folk. but it’s not THEIR fault.

i hate that having a fucking child in the white house, that shows what would have happened if eric had one the academic decathlon in billy madison means now every incel loser thinks their flaws are not their own, but some rigged system against white guys. seriously, what the fuck?

it does pose a philosophical conundrum – if the man’s system is now rigged AGAINST the man, does said system now collapse upon itself now that the man is being kept down by the man?
