all good things must come to an end, i suppose

i hate to end our last fresh post of the year on a sad note, but so it must be…

…that being said, it’s been a long time coming.

the image above i uploaded in march of 2023. i referred to it as “my go to hooch as of late”, but i don’t know how long it had been going. as i recall, the booze came out after the show ended, which was in 2022. apparently there was talk of a movie, which was where it came from, but i haven’t heard hide nor hair of any movie since and, as of a couple of months ago, the whiskey started to disappear of texas shelves.

the only store i knew that had it here was spec’s (dallas based), and apparently when a product starts to wane, they just “deauthorize” stores so there’s no attempt to restock as they run out. the one i’d been getting it from fell into that category a few months ago, but a nice man went and looked and only two stores left in the region had any left, and they were both on highway 71, albeit separated by almost seventy miles – one in bee caves (three left, and on the route i take to work), and bastrop (eight left, where i take david for groceries).

two weeks later i hit the one in bastrop and bought two bottles. then, a couple weeks later, i got a wild hair and stopped at the one in bee caves, shocked beyond words they still had all three a month later, but i only bought one. two weeks later, however, i went and bought the second. a few weeks ago i went to get the third but they were all sold out.

last week i hit the bastrop one, expecting at least four or five left, but there were only the last two, which they sold me at a discount to get rid of. no mas. i see some places online that have it, but they’re all far away and it’s only available for pickup. i technically have three unopened bottles right now, and i will force myself to keep one sealed so shane can try it eventually. the other two will be rotated onto the bar in my office and consumed sparingly, or so the plan goes as of now.
