ingredients listed in order

a lot of people don’t realize that, when ingredients are listed on a product they’re listed in order from greatest to least, so the first thing listed is the main ingredient…

…and so it goes with the restaurant named “cracker barrel” – there’s an emphasis on the “cracker”.

and i don’t mean a saltine…

no restaurant has more racially based lawsuits against it than cracker barrel. this includes their own staff suing them, as well as customers, most famously chris rock’s mom. through her suit it was uncovered that the restaurant had an unofficial people of color section, where they would seat non-white customers, typically having them served by the only black or brown face they’d hire for that location.

daaaaaamn.

so it was no surprise the red hat crowd was up at arms when the company tried to slightly de-countrify their logo. fun fact – the restaurant was founded by two gentlemen, one of which is still very much alive and hated the new logo. the family of the other guy has since come out with the same sentiment. while many bootlegs sprang up overnight, as the internet is gonna internet, this was by far my favorite (forgive the pixelation – it was the best i could find) –

of course, with all the new found maga attention they then went online to remove all references to pride and diversity, equity, and inclusion as they were instantly being touted as being “too woke”. think about that – a large portion of our political spectrum considered cracker barrel to liberal for openly saying they’d serve gay and black people.

that is our america in 2025.

that is fucking sad and pathetic.

i will admit, i ate there once at the insistence of the nicaraguan girl i was with at the time who wanted to try it out. i was in a low carb phase, so as i recall i got very plain and dry chicken with some cheese on it, and some sides that were just this side of marie calendar’s in quality. to say i was impressed is a gross overstatement. i never planned on going back, and reading about rock’s mom cemented that idea.

was it really that big a deal to the red hatters? of course not, but…
