don’t press angry?

i’ll tell you one of the really odd things about sunday’s auto fuckery

…when the car wouldn’t turn over, it felt weird to just push the button again. don’t get me wrong – i’ve been in plenty of cars that wouldn’t start. and we all do the same thing – you turn the key, over and over, and the motion gets more emotional and more angry and more aggressive…and more cathartic. pushing a button, which you just pushed, for the same lame ass result, just makes you feel like the really stupid rat the scientists are making notes about on their clipboard.

“presses button again, without exiting cabin and actually looking under hood, expecting different results. hmmm…”

but that’s how most modern cars start, so that’s the way it goes.

i have a different theory about how smartphones are ruining the latest generation of kids. and it has nothing to do with screen time, but rather with stress venting.

we’ve all hung up on people that have pissed us off. hell, i still do it daily as i get telemarketing calls periodically. but there’s something about ACTUALLY hanging up on someone, physically slamming the phone down, that started to go away with cordless phones (as you just pushed a button, but soon after said phone would occasionally go airborne or at least hit the couch at mach five) but now? you press the end button hard? you’re certainly not throwing that phone…it might break! then you have no phone! at this point, it’s basically our third thumb.

so, here we are, trapped by technology…enslaved by our robot overlords. yep, we knew it was coming…
