no more pencils, no more books

i just read an interesting article on the the new school year and some of the “new rules” across the country…

…and i recently had an old high school classmate say she wished she could be back in that era. i disagreed, and even more so reading about some of the shit they’re going through now.

some of it makes sense to me – and the arguments against to not. one school, for instance, gives out the same kind of neoprene magnetically sealed bags rogan uses in his comedy club so you can’t record the acts. they have to drop EVERYTHING electronic in them – not just phones, but smart watches, digital cameras, ear buds, everything. on the way out they can pass the bag over a magnet that unlocks it as they exit the school. no music between classes? fuck all that – and that was back in the walkman era, where we only had access to one tape at a time. who could resist in this digital age?

a school district in el paso banned all black attire stating it caused students to be depressed and stressed out. no, mi amigo – they’re stressed and depressed because they’re stuck living in fucking hell paso. let them get their goth on!

for me the funniest one was a school in alabama that, due to excess groups of young ladies spending too much time in there, mainly filming the tik toks, took all the mirrors out of the girl’s bathrooms. they stated, as part of the excuse, that they’ve never had mirrors in the boy’s rest rooms…

…ya don’t say.
