watch this, chinese overseers!

so, there may be some truth about the chinese monitoring our internet goings on over here…

…and i might have proof.

so i did a bit about this bootleg watch i found a “screaming deal” on, and when i did all of a sudden the (i suspect fake) tracking info updated, so i waited to see what happened. when it sat, at one point for a full week, with no updates, i did that bit and it somehow triggered an update that day and another two days later saying it was off to be delivered.

at this stage i checked the tracking number through the united states postal service, ups, fedex, and even dhl (because i’ve seen them deliver odd chinese shit before) and the number was unrecognized across all formats. but then, on friday, it did what so far has been the final update…

i, again, think this is updating in shanghai time because it showed this when i looked on FRIDAY, which was the twenty-third, claiming it was delivered early on saturday, the 24th. i REALLY wish i had screen shot this back then, but i didn’t. i can say this, though – at the time it updated i was home. my wife was home. my kid was home. and two VERY alert pitbulls were home. if someone had come to the front door, we’d know – it’s right outside our home office. and in forty-five years i’ve never had a package taken off my porch, and i’ve had thousands of dollars of electronics, left in their original boxes, stacked on this porch by couriers and nothing got taken. i don’t think a box that would hold a watch would be the first.

the end?
