so, last week we did a family movie day…
…it was a fun time. more so after the movie.
not that the movie wasn’t good…it was quite good. the sales figures show it. just yesterday it surpassed the passion of the christ for top grossing rated-r flick in the u.s..
so marvel jesus beats actual jesus. write that down.
(technically that was kind of a spoiler so i just changed the title from “…no spoilers…” to “…very few…”)
it hits on all cylinders, breaking the fourth wall as always, and making fun of itself and the whole movie industry through the entire flick. if you’re a hard core comic head (i’m not) it’s got lots for you, and if you don’t know shit about the “dead-pool-verse” (that’s me) then it’s still a fun time. i had co-workers talk about a big tik-tok spoiler, but they kept it to themselves until AFTER i saw the movie, and when they revealed it to me i sad, “oh, my wife ruined that part in real time” as she told me what was out on tik-tok as it happened in the movie, and, from where i’m sitting, the info doesn’t “ruin” anything.
(that being said as i promised to limit spoilers i won’t reveal it here)
so, there’s these new fancy shmancy “evo theaters” that have come up around here, with all the slickness of your typical big theater chain, but bringing some of that “alamo drafthouse flava” whereby they serve booze and food. we’ve been to the one in san marcos a time or two. it’s nice. this time we decided to hit the one in kyle because it was a wee bit closer and the showtimes worked better for us. we checked the menu online and kind of knew what we wanted, then headed to the spot. to buy tickets they no longer have you deal with human beings, which is why we thought the ticket price (around $10 each) was very reasonable – they’d saved money on box office staff.
i wish there HAD been staff, as they could have warned us that there was no meal service in the theater, you had to go the restaurant, order it to go, and then you could take it in, but there were no tray tables or anything. we grabbed popcorn and sodas last minute but since we’d all skipped breakfast that morning we felt it a bit almost three hours later when we finally walked out, so a restaurant pause was added to the trip home and all was well.
great flick – wraps up this chapter of the MCU nicely. make sure to eat first if you don’t 100% know they serve food.
