i had a fun conversation with my buddy bret the other day and i have to agree with him…
…in many ways, tom hanks can save the world.
there aren’t many universally adored things out there, but tom hanks does appear to be one of em. and he has “the virus”. as of this writing (march 20th) he’s had it for about two weeks, and according to his most recent tweet isn’t getting any better, but isn’t getting any worse.
but that’s as of march 18th – you’re reading this over ten days later, so i’ll put the latest here:
Hey, Folks…We’re home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing. Many, many, thanks to everyone in Australia who looked after us. Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it.

now, depending on what i just pasted in depends on the fate of the world. almost literally. in the 3/18 tweet he was losing a lot of games of gin to his wife, and needed a nap if he folded the laundry or did the dishes. but keep in mind the beloved actor is sixty-three years old AND a diabetic.
and to keep with one of the prevailing themes of this whole situation (and of the last few years) the white house chimp almost tweeted he had died as he wasn’t aware what the term “discharged from hospital” meant.
so if the paste i put in above is good news, there might be some light at the end of this tunnel. and if, as of this coming out, hanks is no longer with us than sink all your money into canned food and shotgun ammo!
