we have a tradition of kicking off the holidays with a drunken bad santa viewing…
…but somebody else near and dear to my heart is a little more conventional. they watch the charlie brown thanksgiving and xmas specials back to back.
they may have an idea there…not that i would do it INSTEAD of mine, but in addition to. i learned a lot from those specials as a kid, and one thing in particular rings out to me. hence, we have…
six things i learned from the charlie brown specials
6. in a happy life you can wear short pants a LOT – seriously. don’t know about those shoes, but after a year of no day job i’m thinking i need to purge out my jeans bin. i’m just sayin.
5. your dog is REALLY your best friend – alex, the non-girlfriend, etc, etc…all there, now all gone. copper? still asleep on the couch. i’m just sayin’….no mystery who’ll greet me xmas morning.
4. we’re not meant to understand our parents – at least that’s what all the adult voices sound like trombones always said to me…the generation ahead of you gets THEIR version of “it”. we get ours. and the one after us theirs. etc. etc.
3. trust a girl and end up screaming “uuuuggghhhh!!!” – yeah, i saw the football thing as a metaphor. what? am i wrong here?
2. you can be dirty and still have lots of friends – ah, pigpen. i didn’t do the “dirty” thing in the “lack of hygene” way – more in the quagmire sense of the phrase. hey, most of ’em are still with me.
1. xmas has just gotten WAY too commercial! – remember how he said that? that was before malls and best buy and “get here by 4am or you’re fucked” sales. who knew charles schultz was such a visionary?
(hence the name of the bit)

It’s TRUE – when the “kids” go to the mall on the Happy Easter Charlie Brown – Sally is perplexed at the fact that the store already had Christmas items for sale! One day it’s going be just like that!! Think about it. I believe Hobby lobby had Christmas items out by early august this year!
THANKS 🙂
