to save the anticipation, my $550 worth of car repairs ended up costing my unemployed ass $750…
…which, surprisingly, i’m at peace with.
of course, it doesn’t hurt that this bit is being written a week AFTER i got my car rather than during the heat of the moment when i was all pissed off and literally wanted to TASTE the blood of the people that got me that way…
…okay, maybe not LITERALLY. but i
finding out the mechanic had to come in on saturday to finish once the owner found out i had been “promised” my car and it hadn’t been delivered so it would be ready first thing on monday helped. finding out he named his dog “homer” after homer simpson helped. him coming to the house to personally give me a ride (and likewise introduce me to homer, who rode bitch on the way to the shop) helped. finding out his labor rates were $70 per hour versus the $45 the other guy was charging me DID NOT help. but seeing his shop versus the previous one helped justify the cost – this is not just a garage, it’s a performance hot-rod shop, too. the guy races on the weekend. so, if i paid $325 for my labor instead of $200, but this problem NEVER happens again i’m cool.
and if it DOES happen in the next couple months i’m fucked.
something tells me at the old place my car might STILL be sitting there – at least i’ve got it back, i have the peace of mind the job was done right, and i now (for the first time in two years) have a gas gauge that actually works. i’ve purposely NOT filled it up since getting it back just ’cause now i don’t have to!
so, i’ve gotten over it mentally and emotionally…financially? that will take a little longer…
