it’s odd…i don’t FEEL any different…
…and i thought i would.
a lof of us should. we just didn’t realize it. the job of all jobs in this country, in a lot of ways, is being president. it’s where all the power is (or is percieved to be). it’s where a lot of the money is (you know the old addage “why would someone spend millions for a job that only pays a quarter mil a year?” – yeah, just watch). but what people really haven’t thought about?
the perception of “the man”.
i think i touched on this previously – how now that the head of the country is black (well, half – but close enough, right?) that we white guys, for the first time, can relax. let it all hang out. like hanging out with your sister versus happy hour with that girl from accounting with the great rack – you can just be you, with no shame, and no pressure to perform.
welcome to the age of the white boy NOT being “the man” – in the “‘the man’ is keeping me down” sense of the phrase. oh no we didn’t. i don’t see a preisident of the caucasian persuasion. it ain’t us any more! from now on we can wear one of these with pride:
(i actually am ordering one for myself, but it’s for much more personal reasons)
i don’t feel changed. i don’t feel hopeful. perhaps that will come in time. right now i just feel opressed…shit, is this how some of you have felt for the last four hundred years? fuck me, this sucks…
(i would like to thank the good folks at hastings in round rock, texas for providing the internet feed for me to do this post even though i didn’t buy shit, and in fact downloaded about twenty songs semi-legally while i was here just to spike the ball)
