okay, so i won’t die in july (a duran duran review)

so last night was SUPPOSED to be the culmination of the concert run…

…but tears for fears announced for july, so we have one more.

but last night i got to see nile rodgers, super producer…

open for duran duran…

…who basically played a first album heavy greatest hits set with only three songs off the latest album (but five off the first one).

the original plan was to join some old club friends in their mezzanine seats, but there was nothing available in their section or anything adjacent, so i turned my sights on an arena seat i’d found i had to use my citi code for, BUT i also had to use my citi card, which sadly didn’t have that much space on it, and for only forty bucks more i could get in towards the back of the floor. one thing i learned when i saw the cure – whether you’re on the back or the front – they’ll let you mosey up the aisle as close as you want and snap pics. so, during the encore…

…that’s exactly…

…what i did!

and while i liked the set list better the second time i saw them in 2005, i liked the energy of the crowd a lot better last night. much better seats, much better vibe, and a good time was had by all. couple that with free parking (albeit a half mile away) and short shirt lines and this was a goodie! let’s see if the TFF show can wrap up this run nicely!
